Marvin Theobald

55th Class Reunion

The Planning Committee met last Tuesday and agreed on several key issues based on the results of an extensive phone survey conducted with past participants. The most important decision was to fix a date and agree on a place so we could confirm a reservation.  We decided on August 17 at Bloomington Country Club and it's availability was confirmed today. More detailed decisions will be made in March and April but at least schedules can now be planned around that weekend. There will be a Friday before event and a Sunday morning after breakfast or brunch. Once final plans are made a noitice and invitation will be mailed to all classmates (assuming we have your address). Stay tuned!!!

Sounds Great!  Thanks for all the work that you and the Reunion Committee put forth to make the event a success.  Looking forward to seeing you in August, if not before!

Ya just have to love this winter weather. 2 huge snow falls in a row, and it's still only January 20. I have worn out my shovel. How many more days until Spring?

                                                     GO YOU RAIDERS!

Anyone else have pictures of their grandparents?

My Grand Parents with all their kids and grandkids.  My father is in the 1st row, sitting on the step next to my Grandmother.

David Long:

Happy to see other's with photos of grandparents!

I take care of the family geneology and have records back to 1550's on both sides.  Photos were commercialized in 1837.  I have photos of great-grandparents as well.  Beyond that I have a few sketches and paintings of a few of the lineage.

We currently have 189 living in our family.

Good luck to everyone.  Hope you all have wonderful photos and information on your family.

Linda

Linda, where are your family from?  On my grandpa Denton side they came from England around 1630.  My many greats grandfather was a minister and he founded the  presbyterian church in the United States.  He inherited an estate in England so he and my many greats grandmother moved back to England but there kids stayed here.  My grandma’s family on my dad’s side came from France, but I don’t know when.  On my mom’s side I don’t know when they came here.  I think they are from Ireland, Scotland, and Holland.

Suzi:

My family background from across the 'pond' are English, Scot, Irish, French, and then when they came to the New World to be 'pioneers' they met the rest of my family who were natives; Cherokees.

The pioneering side were also friends with neighboring family of Abraham Lincoln.  There is a small town named Bristow Indiana.  Some of the Bristow group also went to Illinois when the Lincoln family transplanted themselves.

The Bristow family initially entered the U.S. in Prince William County, VA.  Their first farm is about 5-6 miles from Appamattox.   Today, it is called Bristow, VA.

Suzi...........who knows...........are families may have crossed paths!

Love ya, Linda

Mike...

We had -32* here in Wisconsin this morning.  No problem keeping your Leines cold today!  Starting to warm up tomorrow.  Hope it’s the last deep freeze for the year.  Telling myself it will be Spring before we know it.

Supposed to be 60+ in Overland Park on Sunday. Make a tee time and get in some golf before the game.

I live on the down slope of Franklin Mountain referred to as the Coronado Country Club Foothills.  The subdivision is Llamka Park.

Love the mountain!

Thanks Linda. Had to check Google Maps, but found your area. Western slope? Must be a beautiful view of the mountians. That area has really changed, huge population. I knew where UTEP was, but of course back in the day, I was at Bliss. I loved looking at the mountians every day. We spent our time NE, in the desert. Nothing but sand and sage brush. Biggs was a tiny air-strip in those days.

Max, -32?  Do you have trouble starting your cars in the mornings? My old truck didn't want to fire at -19! Trying to drive at that temp......The tires were like rocks and the power steering fluid was like mashed banana's.

David, I hope some of that 60+ floats our way and into the Mackinaw Valley. We did recover to zero today, but nothing to brag about. Expecting snow tonight.

Thanks to the 3 of you. Love to hear from old classmates. My best wishes to all. Stay healthy.     MIKE

Mike...

Both vehicles are kept in the garage.  Temp there is just above freezing so no problems starting.  Only thing with it being that cold is you get the truck nice and warm, shut it off while in a store, come out ten minutes later and start all over with warming it up.  Luckily it’s just a few days and things warm up somewhat.  Just another thing you get used to living up here for 42 years.

Max

Well Mike,  The warm temps have left the area and we are at 10 this morning with the windchill @ 0.  It's been so cold that the ice hasn't melted.  We had a unique snow / ice storm accompanied by lightng.  Headed for colder weather this coming weekend (back to Chicago to see the Grands), before leaving the following Thursday for Arizona and spring training.  Have to get out of this cold for a few days.

Everyone stay safe and warm!

Max - hope you laid in an extra cord of firewood.

David, sounds like life is treating you well. I'm happy for you and I wish you the best. Bloomington, is......well the same old crap. Cold, wet, windy, expensive, and a good place to be from......far away from!  Will you be going to Mesa, to see the Cubs? (Please don't tell me you're a Cardinal fan) Have a great Spring! We're still 2 months out, but I think it'll get here.

Mike,

We're in for a  Suprise!  Being loyal Royals fans and mostly loyal Cubs fans, we'll be seeing the Royals / Dogers; Royals / Giants, & Royals / Padres.  We also have tickets to see Amy Schumer and a tour for the Frank Lloyd House Taliesin West.

Have car keys, will travel.
