Ralph M. Shedel
Ralph M. Shedel, 87, of 239 Robinhood Ln., Bloomington, a history teacher at Bloomington High School for 38 years, died at 1:25 a.m. yesterday (Aug. 13, 1984) at Americana Health Center.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Metzler Memorial Home. Burial will be Thursday at Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the memorial home.
He was born Feb. 1, 1887 at Fairfield, a son of Carl William and Margaret Barth Shedel. He married Grace Woosley Aug. 3, 1931 in Paducah, Ky. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, John W., Lafayette, NY, and three grandchildren.
A daughter and a sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Shedel was a veteran of World War I, serving overseas in the Medical Corp. He attended A.E.F. University, Beaume Cote D’Or in France. He received a bachelors degree from Illinois and attended St. Louis University.
Mr. Shedel retired in 1961 after 38 years of teaching at BHS.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
