Ruth Barford

Ruth Barford, 79, of 120 Eastview Drive, Normal, died at 10 a.m. yesterday, Feb. 12, 1991, at Mennonite Long Term Care Unit, Bloomington, After a brief illness.
 
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Robert Bellarmine-Newman Center, Normal, the Revs. Joseph Kelly and Ron Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal.
 
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stubblefield Funeral Home, Normal.
 
Mrs. Barford was born Oct. 7, 1911, in Chicago, A daughter of Ernest and Mabel Eaton Blish. She married George Barford on June 4, 1938, in New York. He survives.
 
Other survivors include three sons, George Jr., Temple Terrace, Florida; David C., Chicago; and Michael A., 120 Eastview Drive, Normal; one daughter, Susan A. Jeter, Houston, Texas; one brother, David Blish, Sun City Center, Fla; one sister, Emma Lafeber, Palm Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
 
One sister preceded her in death.
 
Mrs. Barford was a registered nurse and a school nurse for the Bloomington public schools and Olympia High School, Stanford. She was the village health officer at Western Springs from 1945-47 and was a nurse at the Crippled Children’s Camp, Lake Bloomington.
 
She received her nursing degree from the School of Public Health, Columbia University, New York.
 
Mrs. Barford was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine-Newman Center; Illinois Nursing Association and American Red Cross.
 
Memorials may be made to Ruth Barford Scholarship Fund at Mennonite College of Nursing, Bloomington.
