LEXINGTON — James Raymond “Jim” Pierce, 72, of Lexington, passed away at 1:43 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 7, 2019) at his home in Lexington.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lexington. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with an hour prior visitation at the church. Pastor Dave Ehlers will officiate. Full military rites will be accorded following the services. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services. Inurnment will be later at Lexington Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Funeral Home, Lexington, is in charge of arrangements.

Jim was born Oct. 22, 1946, in Bloomington, to Ray and Eloise Price Pierce. He married Debbie Luster Lilienthal in Lexington, on July 1, 2000. She survives in Lexington. Also surviving are his children, Paul James Pierce, Cocoa, Fla., and Michael Norris (Angela) Pierce, Lake Worth, Fla.; his stepchildren, Tyce Lilienthal, Lincoln, Neb.; Brianne (Nathan) Werry, Crete; and Cory Lilienthal, Bloomington; four grandchildren, Preston and Kaia Pierce, Lauren Lilienthal and Faye Werry; one sister, Jan Cavallo, Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.

Jim had served his country in the United State Air Force, serving from 1966 to 1970.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lexington, where he was a former elder and currently on the evangelism committee and the Kiwanis. Jim had worked as a server, working in several area restaurants.

Jim was a sports fan, cheering for many different teams, including the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a great trivia buff. His great love in life was fishing. He had organized several Red Cross blood drives. Most of his life was spent in service to others and he lived in the moment.
