Dixie L. Paul-Dehart, age 69, of Pekin, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Dixie was born on January 25, 1946 in Bloomington, IL to Leo C. and Stella M. (Farrell) Paul.

Surviving are her two daughters, Julie Dehart of Evanston, IN and Shelly (Jason) Shallenberger of Morton, IL; and her two grandsons, Carter and Grayson Shallenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dixie was a substitute teacher and teaching assistant for District 303 in Pekin. She was a devout member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin and she enjoyed reading, music, spending time outdoors and helping children learn. Dixie will be greatly missed by her friends and loved ones.

Cremation rites will be accorded through Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria and services will be privately held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care Foundation. Online condolences may be made through www.remmertfuneralhome.com
