Roger Mardis

BLOOMINGTON — Roger Mardis, 61, of 1303 Eastholme Ave., Bloomington, died at 5:10 p.m. Friday (Dec. 8, 2006) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Jim Smiley officiating. Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Beck Memorial Home. Memorial gifts may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

He was born May 18, 1945, in Bloomington, a son of James E. Mardis and Lily I. Bright. He married Linda Stoller on Oct. 9, 1965, in Bloomington.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Mardis, Bloomington; two daughters, Tiffany (Dwain) Dixon, Normal, and Tara Mardis, Buffalo Grove; two grandchildren, Morgan Dixon and Ian Dixon; and brothers and sisters, Jewel (Homer) Brown, Bloomington; Alvin (Reta) Mardis, Normal; Juanita (Norman) Malcom, Heyworth; Gladys Mallory, Dexter, Mo.; Ed (Carol) Mardis, Escondido, Calif.; Shirley (Harold) Sullivan, Bloomington; Larry Mardis of Georgia; and Richard (Carolyn) Mardis, Normal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy; and one brother, James.

He was a member of Eastview Christian Church, Bloomington.

Roger was employed at State Farm Insurance Cos. in shipping and receiving, with Illinois Graphics as a truck driver, and as a deputy with the McLean County Sheriff’s Department.

Roger was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He loved working in his yard and helping his neighbors, friends and family.

His greatest joy was playing with his grandchildren, Morgan and Ian.
