CARLOCK — Lila L. Wherry, 64, of Carlock finished her journey with cancer at 10:55 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 28, 2010) at her home, surrounded by her family.

Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Carlock Christian Church, with the Rev. Danny M. McCubbins officiating. Burial will follow at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation, 302 W. Main St., 100, Avon, CT  06001, or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.

Lila was born Dec. 2, 1945, in Bloomington, a daughter of Everett and Mae Farrell Jones. She married Tom Wherry on Sept. 1, 1966, in Springfield. Tom survives.

Also surviving are her children, Marlo (Michael) Penn and Brett (Lucretia) Wherry, both of Bloomington; three grandsons, Kyle Penn and Caleb and Cooper Wherry; sisters, Patricia Bishop, Normal; Jeannine (Ron) Baker and Sonja Davis, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Candace (Bob) Gustavson, Bloomington; brothers, Bud (Nancy) Jones, Tennessee; and Mauri (Peggy) Jones, Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Savannah Wherry; a brother, Byrl Jones; and two sisters, Gale Ely and Colleen Malinowski.

Lila was an active member of Carlock Christian Church, where she was a deacon and served on the official board and many committees.

She and her husband are co-owners of Heritage Machine and Welding Co., Bloomington.

Lila was a loving wife and mother and cherished her grandchildren.
