
Donald R. “Don” Brown age 78, of Bloomington, IL, passed away peacefully at 3:25 PM on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at The ARC in Normal, IL. Don was born on November 5, 1946, in Bloomington, IL, to Warren L. and Leona Jane Dickerson Brown. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, stationed in Juneau, Alaska, and St. Louis, Missouri. Following his service, Don was a dedicated member of the Central Illinois Laborers #362 and devoted 20 years to working in the maintenance department at The Pantagraph. On June 14, 1968, Don married Nenita Marie Untalasco in Juneau, Alaska. Together, they built a loving family and life centered on faith, work, and community. Don is survived by his loving wife, Nenita; his four children, Roxanna (Richard) Wright of Clinton, IL, Tami (Jason) Campbell of Los Angeles, CA, Elisa (Brian) Vasquenz of Bloomington, IL, and Scott Brown of Normal, IL; along with twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his cousin, Martha Dickerson of Bloomington. Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Warren Brown Jr. A man who cherished time spent fishing, camping, and simply being with family, Don’s warmth and dedication left an indelible mark on all who knew him. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Beck Memorial Home in Bloomington, IL. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 PM, officiated by his son-in-law, Brian Vasquenz. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the USO or a charity of the donor’s choice.
