Here's a Bar Bet if you want to astound your fellow classmates (those that don't follow Raiders '64).

What Do You Multiply by itself to get $12,345,678,987,654,321?

The answer is surprisingly easy - - -

$111,111,111 X $111,111,111 = $12,345,678,987, 654,321.

(You might need to know this someday?)

Sorry I won't be able to join the crowd tonight, but commitments to the continued upkeep to the new condo are in the plans for today.

Hello everyone.  There were about 30 of us at Mini reunion.  Most of us are a local group and as always fun to see everyone.  Marvin said to me this core group is always there and hope to see everyone next year at our 60th. Marvin took pictures and I trust he will photo fix all of us so we look better than ever before he posts them. Right?  Hugs to you all!

Alright already!!! I had to keep Mel entertained until this morning and haven't had time to post the pics until now. Mel and I determined that we had 20 classmates and 5 guests at the gathering Monday. No shortage of conversation with lots of laughter and general fun. For some reason no one participated in the volleyball activities even though I tried to encourage a few people. Seems no one wanted to get sand in their face. Old people - what do you do with them? Feed them and tell them how great they look!!! Enjoy the photos. I think I captured all 25 for your viewing pleasure.

Love ya, Linda

It is nice to see so many pictures from the mini reunion.  I even recognize quite a few people.  It also looked to be a chilly evening, judging from jackets, etc.

Memories of Days Gone By:

I was just back from Nam after my 2nd tour and was stationed in Columbus, OH.  I have to admit that I don't remember quite a few of the songs, but the one's that I do are Great.  60s on 6 and 70s on 7 are go to channels on Sirius/XM.  There's a Bad Moon Rising somewhere.

Whoops - I forgot that 60s on 6 changed stations and is now 60s Gold on Sirius/XM channel 73.

Earlier in the year, I commented on how quickly the first few months had passed.  Soon we will be at the end of June.........and only 1/2 of the year left for 2023.

To some the time drags slowly.  What, do you suppose, might be the big difference in the people who think time is passing quickly versus those who thinks time is passing slowly?

Best to all!

Linda

First, LInda: I have developed a concept about this that is tied to Einstein's theory of relativity. When you were a year old, one month was one-twelfth of your live. At ten, one year was one-tenth of your life. Thus, the time elapsed seemed to be a smaller portion of what was experienced. As we grow older, that ratio becomes more exaggerated. At the age of fifty, one year represents a smaller piece of what we have experienced and time seems to move more rapidly. For me, a year is now a blip and a day is an infintesimally small dot. So, yes, time seems to move more rapidly, because it is a smaller piece of where we have been. Memory tricks us and what once seemed like a week is a month and what seemed like a year is a decade. Recalling dates of events are now measured in generations and yet we have to survive every day as we did when we were young. In order to do that, we must escape boredom and relish every minute we have. As kids that was easy, but as we age that is harder to do. We wrestle with a larger puzzle. Yet, there is no more reasonable difference between a day or a year as we expeirenced it as children than there is now. So, we must celebrate every moment, because without it, we have lost our place in the universe.

Second, Dave: No one can better express the above than Lucy in the "Peanuts" cartoon you posted. Although not about time, it is about how much we live in the moment. We are so lucky to be alive and find meaning in who we are.

Mel,

An oft told axiom - Life is like a roll of toilet paper--the closer to the end you get, the faster it seems to go.

On another note, a famous gangster once said "Be careful who you call your friends.  I'd rather have four quarters than one hundred pennies."

Makes having all our 'Raiders' friends so valuable in our lives.

Melvin (Mel) Theobald

Dave, did that toilet paper thing come from you or Einstein? It is nothing short of brilliant. Let the good times roll.

Mel,

Laissez les bon temps rouler!

OK, all,

Why can't you borrow money from a Leprechaun?

Because he's always a little short!

Whoa, Sandy. Man oh man, can I identify with that. How funny. Pretty much nails it.

Mel is right Sandy. Now I know why I smoke a pipe on occasion and have often thought of getting a Harley tattoo. Ridden Harley's since 1976, British motorcycles since 1967. Freinds have asked for years why don't I have tattoos and do drugs? Never tried wacky weed or other drugs my friends used. Told them I could get high enough off alcohol and good music.

We have seen a report from Marvin before that shows how many people from our class live in which states.

I'm wondering how many classmates live in Bloomington or within 100 miles.  Then, how many live in Illinois and within a short distance of Illinois.

Hi Linda,

Oh the home page, just to the right of the mini-reunion announcements all of the states and the number of classmates that live in each state are listed.
