Interesting face guard Jim. Far more appealing that the one I created. When we were first needing masks they were impossible to buy and materials for making them were hard to come by. Putting my creative juices to work and reviewing my resources I came up with this very effective solution. It not only served as a good filter, it was very effective for social distancing. People would see this and stay as far away as possible smiley. Judy would not allow me to wear it in public sad so I never actually got to use it. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

I did not apply for a patent so feel free to make as many as you like. Be sure to sanitize thoroughly before use. You could personalize it with your own art work if you wanted to camouflage it. I cringe to think about the creative ways people like, Mel, Max or Dave L. might decorate it.

NO COMMENTS?  Come on everyone , I know it's a crude drawing, but like "Kilroy Was Here" I added a couple extra features.

Steve, I got the Brooks Tangy Ketcup and the Ray's Chili Dog Sauce at Hy-Vee this morning.  Someone asked me for this recipe on Facebook so while I had it loaded on my computer, I thought I'd put it on here and maybe you can compare your recipe to this one.  You can adjust the recipe to how you like the taste, of course.

Marvin and David L.   Your posts are funny, but leave me speechless.   LOL

First - As I said in my previous post "I cringe at to think about .....". Dave made my fears come true. I have to give Dave credit for his artist talents though. Glad Sandy saw the humor in it and hope everyone else did. I'll try to be a more reserved Raider representative in the future.

Sandy - Thanks for the recipe. I will try it sometime soon.

Thanks to Jim's post a few weeks ago, I picked up some liverwurst for the first time in probably over 30 years and have really enjoyed it. Forgot how much I liked it. Ummmm-ummmm!!!

For today, I am going to post some great pictures from the past. These are a few more of the fourth grade pictures Gail Hempstead Uphoff turned over to me a couple of years ago from Washington School.

I am not taking credit for the crude drawing....here's the original which is on the WWII Monument in DC.

Love the pictures....

Marv,

I think Sandy's recipe would be perfect "Cruising the Lake" food!

I have been to the WWII memorial in DC but never noticed the Kilroy was here etching.

I found another aloha shirt picture and thought Jim Rookus might like to see it.

Follow-up to Steak n Shake Chili Mac Sauce recipe--There were only 2 ingredients 1 #10 can of Heinz catsup and 1  6 oz glass of Worcestershire Sauce.  Take it from one who made enough of it over time.

James (Jim) Rookus

MARV... did you try the liverwurst Dave or Max's way with either grape jam  or  olives?

WENDY....  Santa never looked so good.... not sure the striped sleeves go with the outift!f

DAVE... that 10# of Ketchup is rather a large amount ... not expected in a home kitchen ... did you cook at the Stake & Shake?

A # 10 can of product is about 120 oz.depending on the canned food.  Vegetables tend to be a little heavier and fruit a little less.  For the typical home kitchen--a 10 or 12 oz bottle of catsup with a Tablespoon +/- will do well.  Shake/stir well and store in a closed container in the fridge for p 3 months.  It's also good for other things--like burgers, ribs, steaks and other things on the grill.  If it 'needs a shave' pitch it.

Correction/Addition--The Tablespoon +/- is for the Worcestershire Sauce.  Sorry for the ommission.

Julie, that IS Kathy Quiet, I believe!

Hi everyone.  I think I'm going to take a sabbatical from the forum for a while.  I really don't try to be offensive and apologize for having done so.  I've got a lot going on trying to organize the online auction for Johnson County IHN on which I'm a board member and am procurement Director for both the board and for the auction committee.  It's been a great break jumping in every once in a while to catch up when I finish an online request, to which the response this year has been dismal.

My Kilroy drawing with added hair and eyebrows was done with my finger on an iPhone app, thus not very fine lines.  Didn't think that adding the saying "Kilroy Was Here" would have been appropriate to have on Marv's N95 mask.

For those that have been to the monument in DC, it's easy to miss the Kilroy etching as it's somewhat hidden.  I recall that it may be behind the Pennsylvania column.  Here are a couple of actual pictures from the monument.  Enjoy.

Y'all stay safe and healthy!

Boo and Julie - Based on your responses I believe that is Cathy Quiett in the photo. Below is the caption on the back of the photo. Boo - Do you remember Mickie Ponaford and whether that could be her or Cathy in the Photo? Also below is a photo from the Washington School book labeled Mickie Ponaford. What do you think?

Dave - Cruising on the lake with Chili Mac would be great! Let's do it the next time you are in town. Come back to the forum soon. I am sure no one has been badly wounded by "Kilroy". I feel like I set you up.

Wendy - I can imagine your Santa in the tropics photo has given Jim a new vision of what to wear to his next Christmas party.

Jim - I like just Miracle Whip on bread with liverwurst. Don't have olives or grape jelly on hand so could not try that. Besides I finished off the liverwurst yesterday for lunch.

Below are a couple of more Washington School photos.

MINI-REUNION CANCELLATION NOTICE

After Class Planning Committee discussion it has been decided to cancel the August 8 event at Gill Street due to the COVID-19 risks in an environment with so many other people. Also, since Tony Roma's has closed and the virus is expected to continue to be a concern we are cancelling the Dec 5 event as well. It is sad that we will not have been able to get together this year but hopefully we will be able to return to some level of normal next year and celebrate our ability to meet safely again.

It has been suggested that we could meet at a park or someplace for a picnic type gathering where it would be only our classmates and guests. Let me know if that would interest you and we can see if enough people are interested to make that happen.

To Julie and Boo

I still think it is Mickie.  She lived next to Susie Probasco and went to Washington School with her.  I am going to look for the camp group photo or  any others I may still have.  I can't remember when she moved away.  I didn't know Cathy Q until Jr High when I moved around the block from her.  Maybe Ann Wylie or other Second Pres  camper from back then might remember.

To Everyone

I love reading what everyone is has done in their life - and are doing!

Having known both girls, I think that's Mickie Ponsford in the photo. Cathy Quiett attended Centennial Christian Church, as I did, in 1958. CCC kids didnt go to church camp in Wisconsin. In the 1957-1958 school year, both Teri and I transferred from Washington to Oakland School, and finished 6th grade there. Teri and Cathy were 6th grade classmates but I do think that Mickie in the Wisconsin picture.

Wendy, you were in the middle of all this. What do you think?

And does anyone have contact with Mickie Ponsford today? Gail's right; she did move away about the tike we were in 4th grade at Washington.

Sandy, my chili mac recipe is the same as yours but a little larger: 1/2 lb hamburger, 2 small cans hot dog sauce, 3 tb brown sugar & cider vinegar.

Surprised Dave's is so simple ..... but he has the "official" credentials in his resume.

Re discussion about Micki (who I did not know) v. Cathy ..... it's Micki.  That pic didn't look like Cathy.

Dave Long ...... if you have ever been offensive on this site then I am tone deaf

I always thought it was the spice Cumin that gave Steak n Shake its special flavor.  Maybe Cumin is in the ketcup or hot dog sauce already.

Julie - When I look for the 2nd Pres camper photo I look for the old photo of us and Virginia Grimes the Pantagraph took of us one summer in front of your house - remember?  I know I had it back when I sent old photos to Marv
