Phyllis E. James, 59, of 1417 Ridgeport, Bloomington, died Saturday, (Feb. 26, 2005) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
 
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington. The funeral will be at noon on Thursday at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, Bloomington. The Rev. Frank McSwain will officiate. Entombment will be at East Lawn Mausoleum, Bloomington. Kibler-Smith Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
 
Memorials may be made to Mount Pisgah Baptist Church.
 
Phyllis was born March 16, 1945 in Peoria, the daughter of the late George Arnold Furness and the late Dorothy Mae Jamison Furness. She married Samuel A. James August 16, 1964 in Bloomington.
 
Phyllis is survived by her husband; son Brian (Amy) James Sr. of Bloomington; grandchildren, Brian Jr. Carson, Ajayhla, and Deyvohn James, all of Bloomington; two sisters, Betty (Gerald) Pulley) of Galesburg, and Judith (Odis) Trammell of Madison, Wis.; two brothers, Charles (Diane) Furness of Peoria, and Ronald (Polly) Furness of Peoria.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
 
Phyllis graduated from Bloomington High School in 1964. She was last employed and BroMenn Regional Medical Center, where she worked in medical records. She later became a homemaker and loved caring for her grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
