Regarding Jim Pierce
Jim's wife Deb at his request called me last night and asked that I post a message regarding Jim's health. Jim has been fighting small cell lung cancer since September and after treatments appeared to be doing okay as of April 23 when a catscan found no evidence of spreading. Since then Jim's health has been deteriorating at lightning speed. He is now unable to walk and is extremely weak. The cancer has spread to his brain and cannot be cured.
At this moment, today, his doctor is evaluating if he is strong enough to receive additional radiation treatments that could push back and give him more time. Either, after the additional treatments if pursued or if after today he is not strong enough for the treatments the doctor is putting Jim on Hospice.
Jim has been a valuable and treasured Class Committee member for many years and always ready to make a difference in keeping this class together.
