OK first off Terry moose steaks are very good also ribs burgers  Rod that's the way we did it in Alaska but we used a tree Mary we had so many around Fairbanks they had to run them out of town all the time

Rodney (Rod) Hayes

Max,   I'm with you.  Steak and Taters is the way to go.  When I think of Moose, I think of Deer, and Deer can be a little gamey.  I think you have something with that TOE TRUCK thing.  You get a tow truck, paint a big toe on the side doors with ING next to it.  Ed is going to want me to see a Dr. too.

Mary, I don't know about that Handsome, for a Moose, but BIG, he is that for sure.  After reading your latest profile, I wouldn't want you hunting me down in the woods with a rifle & scope.  You are quite the Hunter and obviously a very good Marksman or Markswoman.

Ron-

Back in the 70's when pick ups had to be lettered by state law, there was a physician here in springfield with one.

On the doors was lettered quite nicely:

Ly** Wa**ser, MD

Brain surgery and Light Hauling

Ed,

I know the guy.  Had him haul some stuff out of my garage and he offered me 25% off on brain surgery.  I took advantage.  Worked out well, as you can probably tell.

Hi everyone!   Milam I love seeing the first McDonalds on Main Street!   Thank you.   I'm trying to remember.......was Sandy's, on Empire at Towanda, before or after the first McDonalds?

I will never forget Hubbard's Cupboard!   I remember it and my mouth waters for their pork tenderloin sandwiches that lapped over the bun.   I used about 1/3 of a bottle of ketchup on them!   Dianne Shaffer always used mustard on her french fries and her sandwich.    I always passed it to her and said here's your baby poop!

I'm enjoying seeing the interaction on this site!   Nice that we can communicate like this!  Helen don't let Mary shoot him!  That deer belongs to Santa!

Special NOTE:  I have the book on Mrs. Ewing.   They sell it at the castle.   She used to come out to our farm and ride horses with us.   I have thoroughly enjoyed the book.   I remember playing tennis on her courts.   She taught me how to score and gave me a few pointers on the game.   She decided to bring out some refreshments for us.   It was lemonade and sugar cookies.   The lemonade was sour!   Bless her heart.......she tried.   She was so nice to me.

When she came to the farm she wore a black riding habit with a long skirt that was split like pants.  She wore a black hat to match.   Her chauffeur carried a stepstool in the trunk for her to mount and dismount.   She was a loveable character!

Bless you all

Linda

Sandy's opened before McDonalds. Hubbard's had a great tenderloin. They really pounded them out themselves and breaded them. None of those processed loins. The real thing. :)

Milam:

I have found only one place that makes the tenderloins like Hubbards Cupboard....an Amish restaurant by Arthur, IL.   Their coconut cream pie is just as good too!

Have you read the book about Mrs. Ewing?  I think most of us could really enjoy it.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.   This is the first year we are NOT having turkey.  My daughter wants Chicken Kiev and Chicken Shish-ka-bob.   I'm gonna make it for her!   But, a turkey decoration is going to be in the middle of my table!

Blessings to everyone......

Linda

Milan...  Just wondering, do you know about what year Sandys or Mc Donalds opened?  And what about Mr. Quick on the corner of Washington and Clinton?  I remember that place because it's the first place I ever had a triple cheesburger... I can just hear my arteries clogging as I write this!

Max, I don't know but I'll find out. I know Sandy's opened before I had a driver's license. I remember riding my bike up there. I think I was in Jr High then.

McDonald's opened in 1959 so I am guessing Sandy's probably opened in 1958.

Ok, I'll say it publicly congratulations Holly.  Stanfurd keeps the Ax just one more year.  Cal gave them a run, though.

One can only wonder if the wunderkind, Jim Harbaugh, had stayed on....would they (Stanford) have beaten the mighty Ducks?

11/21/11 01:27 PM #2332

Harriett (Holly) Rust (Wood)

Thanks Jerry.  I didn't come out completely as a winner though as I bet a friend of mine and gave him points so I will be taking him our the next time I'm in the Bay Area.  He's a Cal undergrad, Stanford law school, but the only he isn't a total Bear is when Stanford plays USC.   It was a good game, but I surely hope we can get a Zach Ertz and Toilolo healthy!!  I hope Owusu doesn't play again as he has had too many concussions and no sport is worth the risk.

And how about Stanford Women's Soccer?  In the quarterfinals again.  This year's seniors have compiled a record of 90-4-4...I call that very impressive. Until this fall I hadn't missed a home game in 6 years.

Tonight's women's bball game should also be good...Stanford vs. UConn.  I was at the game last year when Stanford won.  My ears didn't quit ringing for a couple of days.  It was awesome.

Okay, enough sports talk.  I am a big sports fan and tend to get carried away.

Agreed, everyone knows California ends just north of Fresno so ABUSC (anyone but USC) One of my daughters married a guy from down south who is a rabid fan of the University of Spoiled Children.  It gets to be a bit much.  Their band should be banned.  Oh wait, yours was.  heh, heh!

Happy Holidays Holly!

Linda, I still have mustard on my fries and love green olives in my mashed potatoes.  Some things never change.  I enjoy reading comments on this site.  I wish all of you a "Happy Holiday".

Holly,
Women's Soccer? Glad you are a fan. In the early 80’s I got my certification to be an AYSO soccer referee, and they mostly assigned me to games with about 15 year old girls….as seen in this picture of me trying to keep up at the Elmhurst Park District in 1984. I was in decent shape, but these girls still ran me ragged.  I learned to call fouls to slow the action. The blond on the right, a striker, was terrific, and I wouldn’t be surprised if her daughter is playing for Stanford today.

Jack:

Didn't know that Jack.

I was the first lady soccer coach under AYSO in El Paso, TX.   There weren't enough men participating here at that time.   I had never seen a game.   I read the instructions and taught the kids.   I had both boys and girls.   We placed second in city.   That seemed to really irk the dads who were competing.   I was told they all went out to a bar nearby after that.   Their wives called to tell me without the guys knowing.

Hello to Dianne Shaffer!

11/22/11 10:34 PM #2338

Jack Habich

Well, Linda, since you had both boys and girls on the same team, I'm assuming you coached the younger kids.  I used to like watching them, because no matter what you tell them, they swarm to the ball like a colony of bees.

Keep reading those instructions.....maybe we'll see you coaching in the World Cup???
