Update on Flora Willis Calhoun - Her daughter sent the following message through the website a few days ago:

"Hello, My mom is Flora Willis who is in your missing classmates list. She lives out in the country and does not have internet access. If you would like to forward information to me I will certainly be happy to pass it on to her. Thanks! Kathy Ferraro (daughter)"

I have replied to Kathryn and requested Flora's address to update the class directory. If anyone would like to contact Flora through her daughter please let me know and I will try to help.

It seems that every mini-reunion has it's special surprises and disappointments in who can come and those that cannot. Aug 9 is proving to be no exception in that Linda Elias was planning on coming and now unfortunately is unable to make it. Dave long is disappointing us in not being able to be here to entertain us with his portable leg magic tricks but has baited us with a carrot providing hope that he will be here for our Dec 1 gathering. Happily Julie Hart is coming to the rescue with her plan to join us Aug 9 at Gill Street.

Our turnouts have be growing this past year and hopefully we will see even more happy faces at Gill Street.

I wrote to Kathy and also to Flora's former sister-in-law about Flora. Her sister-in-law has been in contact with Flora and Flora is planning to call Sandy Jeakins Sizemore. Lots has been going on in the background in finding Flora. :)

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! In order to avoid 'surprises', let it be known that Dorothy & I are again planning on being in attendance at the upcoming Mini-Reunion. We will arrive in Bloomington on Wednesday afternoon for dinner with one of my ski club buddies from the B-N Ski Club (okay - between he and I, we're 146 years old and haven't skiied in several (20+) years but we were once "Great Skiiers" when we terriorized the slopes. We get better with every year that passes .

Am I correct in my assessment that the dress code for Gill Street is still BlackTie? That OFF or a Strong Cigar is still a requirement as an inscet repellant for the outdoor seating area?

Looking forward to seeing everyone that will be in attendance! Linda, very sorry you won't be able to make it! Max - hope you can venture forth from WI (we should take a tour of Low St and Miller Park and compare memories). Forgive my memory lapse, but which of our classmates attended the FBI Citizen's Acadmeny? I've been nominated by a couple of retired FBI agents and would like to get some insight into the particulars. M & M, we'll be in Chicago beginning 8/3 for the Long Family Reunion and not departing until the morning of 8/8.

Boy, there have been a lot of birthdays! I hope each of you had a wonderful day!

I was just thinking about the gardens of Bloomington and missing those wonderful tomatoes! I need to go buy some today!

My mom would plant a lot of tomatoes. Then, late in July she would make Tomatoes Preserves with cinnamon and the rinds of lemons. I used to love to 'fish out' those rinds. They became candied. That was the best on fresh baked bread. I suppose it is time for me to get out Mom's old recipes and try to make a batch. I think I need 10 pounds of tomatoes for a batch.

Did any of you experience this recipe in your family? I would love to check and see if our recipes are similar.

I don't know how many of you watch the national news, but the smoke from the fires are horrific. The air quality index is at "Unhealthy", for the first time since they stated recording. The overall fire damage is the worst since they started recording. Over 50,000 folks have been evacuated. Fortunately very few deaths have been due to the fire. Pray for those who have lost their homes, everything.

Linda, what a sweet and thoughtful offer and I am half tempted to take you up on it. It's been awhile since we have been down your way. My wife is wheel-chair bound and travel is difficult, but doable. We live with our youngest daughter and her family and her two high schoolers are anxious to take you up on your offer. I think mainly because school starts on Monday!! We are fine as long as we stay inside and hug the airconditioner as this isn't going to let up for awhile. I guess the Pyramid fire was arsonist caused and they have the guy in custody. Again, thank you: Ray

I see how many fires are alive in California on the news. If your situation should deteriorate, my offer still stands. You have to do what you need to do to protect your family.

I see that we have 14 living in California. However, with all of the fires in the west, there may be more of our class, living in other states, who might need a place to get away from fire and smoke.

New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, etc. all have fires.

I bet another 2 weeks would make a difference for them. (if they have a home to return to)

I will be glad to house as many as possible. I can handle 8 people.

Appreciate your help with finding who all lives in the areas of fire.
